The latest SmartPhones now have larger screens and wifi connectivity allowing you to use fully-functioning internet banking services.
Security of your bank information is an obvious concern, particularly if your phone is lost or stolen. The text message service includes no account information or sensitive data and should therefore be OK even in the case of a lost phone.
Mobile banking software is accessed via a secure password and should be safe to use providing the password is not stored anywhere on your phone!
SmartPhones using operating systems are at risk of viruses and trojans in the same way as home computers, although because many different operating systems are used on mobiles the spread of these has been more difficult.
To keep your information safe in the event of a lost phone make sure it is locked via a PIN number. Anti-virus software for mobile phones is also now available.
